Terms of Service

Last updated August 1, 2026

Agreement and edition

These terms explain the Mac App Store edition of Throttlr and supplement the terms that apply to your use of the App Store. By downloading, purchasing, or using Throttlr, you agree to these terms and Apple's applicable App Store terms.

Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs the license unless Apple presents a different applicable agreement. Apple's terms control App Store billing, refunds, and usage rules if they conflict with these supplemental terms. The direct-download edition has separate Direct Download Terms.

License and plans

Throttlr is licensed, not sold. Subject to Apple's Standard EULA and Usage Rules, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on eligible Apple-branded devices you own or control. We retain all rights not expressly granted.

The Free plan permits local per-app network monitoring. An active Monthly, Yearly, Lifetime, or eligible introductory-trial StoreKit entitlement also unlocks throttling and blocking. App Store purchases follow the Apple Account and usage rules applicable to the purchase; the direct edition's license keys and two-Mac activation limit do not apply.

Introductory trial

Apple may offer eligible customers a 14-day introductory trial with a Monthly or Yearly subscription. Eligibility is determined by Apple and is generally limited to one introductory offer per Apple Account within the Throttlr Pro subscription group. The purchase sheet shows the price, renewal date, and applicable trial terms before you confirm.

Unless canceled through Apple before renewal, the subscription begins charging at the displayed recurring price after the free period. Customers who are not eligible for the introductory offer may subscribe at the price Apple displays without a trial.

Subscriptions and Lifetime

Monthly and Yearly subscriptions renew automatically at the interval and price displayed by Apple until canceled. You can view, change, or cancel them through your Apple Account subscription settings. Cancellation normally prevents future renewal while access continues through the current paid period, subject to Apple's terms and any refund or revocation.

Lifetime is a non-consumable purchase that unlocks the Pro features of this Throttlr product without a scheduled subscription renewal. It does not transfer ownership of Throttlr, guarantee support for every future macOS release, or require us to create any particular update or separately branded successor product. Apple may revoke or refund a transaction under its policies, and Throttlr will follow the verified StoreKit status.

App Store billing and refunds

Apple processes App Store payments, taxes, receipts, subscription management, and refund requests. Throttlr does not receive your complete payment-card details and cannot cancel or refund an App Store transaction for you. Refund eligibility and processing are controlled by Apple and applicable law.

Nothing in these terms limits a mandatory consumer right, legal guarantee, withdrawal right, or remedy for digital content that is faulty, unavailable, or not as described.

System requirements and operation

Throttlr currently requires macOS 15 or newer. Monitoring and traffic controls require permission to enable the included App Proxy Network Extension. The app may ask you to quit and reopen applications whose connections began before the proxy started. Because of App Sandbox restrictions, you must quit those applications yourself when prompted.

StoreKit access and an internet connection are required to load products, complete or restore purchases, and refresh subscription status. Throttlr is designed to fail open so disabling or stopping its proxy restores ordinary connectivity, but compatibility can vary with applications, networks, and future operating-system changes.

Acceptable use

You may not:

  • resell, sublicense, rent, publish, or redistribute Throttlr;
  • bypass StoreKit entitlement checks or other access controls;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Throttlr except where applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
  • interfere with, overload, probe, or abuse Throttlr or related services; or
  • use Throttlr unlawfully or on devices or networks you are not authorized to manage.

You are responsible for the throttling and blocking rules you configure and for obtaining any permission required to monitor or control traffic on a managed device.

Availability, suspension, and changes

You may stop using Throttlr at any time. Access to Pro may end when a subscription expires or a transaction is canceled, refunded, revoked, or no longer verified by StoreKit. We may restrict use for a material breach, fraud, a security threat, or conduct we are legally required to prevent.

We may maintain, secure, update, or discontinue parts of Throttlr as the product evolves. We do not promise uninterrupted operation or compatibility with every application, network, device, or future macOS release. Any change remains subject to Apple's terms and mandatory consumer rights.

Warranty and liability

Apple's Standard EULA contains the warranty and liability terms applicable to the licensed app. To the maximum extent permitted by law and without limiting mandatory consumer rights, Throttlr is provided “as is” and “as available,” and we do not warrant that it will be error-free or uninterrupted.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Throttlr is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption. These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including applicable liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or personal injury.

General and contact

We may update these terms prospectively and will publish the revised version and date here. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
